Top Five DC Wedding Venues

Washington, DC is a beautiful wedding destination FULL of unique venues. It is difficult to choose in this sea of amazing possibilities. To ease your decision-making, here is a list of my favorite DC venues! Happy wedding planning!

#1. St. Francis Hall at the Franciscan Monastery, Washington, DC

St. Francis Hall is a truly hidden gem in the DC area. This beautiful, old world venue offers meticulously maintained gardens, outdoor covered archways, and a gorgeous event hall that can fit 250! A huge red curtain above the stage provides a colorful element for an indoor ceremony. If you’re looking for a European feel to your wedding day, this is definitely your spot.

#2. Rust Manor House, Leesburg, VA

Rust Manor House is an elegant and classic option a short drive from the city. The house offers a beautiful backdrop for ceremonies and receptions on the grounds, or if you have a very small wedding guest list you can hold the wedding indoors. If it looks like you’ll have good weather, the outdoor lawn, brick pathways, and lots of ivy are features you’ll use in an outdoor wedding ceremony + reception. Plenty of room outside for a big tent too in case it rains!

#3. Arts Club of Washington

The Arts Club of Washington is a classic Washington, DC venue. A historic building full of beautiful art. What more could you ask for?

#4. Fort Myer, Arlington, VA

Fort Meyer’s Old Post Chapel and Officer’s Club are gorgeous options if you have a military connection. Central to Virginia and DC, it’s a convenient location for your guests and there are tons of creative portrait spots too! I’ve only shot here once but I had a TON of fun at this wedding.

#5. Mount Vernon

Yep, you can celebrate your wedding at George Washington’s former estate, Mount Vernon! It is obviously quite historic and pretty, and they do a great job maintaining the grounds for tourists during the week and intimate weddings + receptions on the weekends. It’s both laid back and elegant in a very southern way.

Meghan + Nacho // Patapsco Valley State Park Engagement

You can probably tell just from looking at them how amazing and awesome these two are.

I warned Meghan + Nacho, after they told me that they would like an engagement session in a state park (in this case, Patapsco Valley), that in order to get the best images possible, I will make them hike, cross rocky creeks, climb waterfalls, + confront their deepest fears (well, not really. I didn’t tell them that beforehand. But we confronted our deepest fears anyway: we crossed paths with a gigantic wolf spider near the waterfall, and it was awesome). Oh right, we located Maryland’s second biggest waterfall, Cascade Falls!!

…it’s not very big.

Two hours of trail-trodding and discovery later, we got back to our cars with a few minor bug bites and a wonderful sense of joy. It was amazing getting to know Meghan and Nacho and I’m so glad we got the chance to hang out and make beautiful photos together!

Sandy + Kevin // BaltImore Wedding at AVAM

Sandy + Kevin were married two weeks ago, in an epic Baltimore rainstorm. They got ready, did a first look, and then the rain started!

They made their way to the American Visionary Art Museum in a torrential downpour and tied the knot, Kevin cracking continuous jokes the entire time. And Sandy, looking stunning in a gorgeous sleeveless wedding gown, couldn’t contain her laughter. I just absolutely love these two people and their wedding was wonderful!

Theirs was a true Baltimore wedding: Orange Crushes for all, pit beef, crabcakes, random weather phenomenon, inner harbor views, great guest outfits, huge dance party!

Enough chitchat; photographs commence!
