MADDIE + DREW // WASHINGTON DC ENGAGEMENT

I met up with Maddie + Drew in DC, after they did a cake tasting for their wedding coming up this Summer!

I recommend all couples eat cake before an engagement session.

We walked around the Georgetown Waterfront in DC, exploring! The Swedish Embassy has a lot of fun spots to find, even if you have to dodge a few tourists and the occasional skateboarder to make it work. We discovered a boathouse that Maddie used to row from! Small world: It turns out that Maddie + I actually went to the same high school a few years apart!! Her and Drew now live out in Seattle and I was so excited to be able to meet them in person and make some art with these two amazing people!!!

Even though they’ve been together for more than 8 years now, and have two cats (the ideal number), I can sense that they have a very rich relationship. They share the same easygoing mentality that comes—i’m suspecting—from both a deep true love, and from moving out of the DC area. :)

But they also seem to be deeply happy in the life that they’ve built together. In walking and talking with them as we went along, I realized that their upcoming wedding is really less about entering into that perfect life, and more about throwing an awesome party in celebration of what they already have, and looking forward to what comes next. I expect great things from these two!

Danielle + Tom // Washington DC Engagement

Summer magic in DC.

It was an unnaturally cool evening in DC when I met up with Danielle + Tom.  The days before were excruciatingly hot but for whatever reason, out of nowhere, this day was perfect.  We explored Washington DC's Tidal Basin for more than two hours hanging out, walking around, and getting some gorgeous views of the Washington Monument and the Potomac River.  If you know me you also know that Roosevelt Park is one of my favorite lesser-known spots in DC, and I was so happy to check it out again with new friends!

Can't wait for these two to get married in November...I have a feeling that it's going to be amazing!!

Katie + Jorge // Washington DC Wedding

...what to say about the couple who has everything?

//

Katie and Jorge are two peas in a ridiculous pod.

Both of them have the amazing ability to warm up any room just by being in it, and Katie's smile always brings a smile to my face too.  Full disclosure: a LOT of my close friends were at this wedding, being crazy, and making it one of the most fun and epic weddings I've ever shot.  After the wedding at Catholic University Chapel, everybody scooted over to Glen Echo for carousel rides, an uncountable amount of cookies, and dancing the night away.  The evening was punctuated by beautiful speeches, me sneaking the lucky couple out for night portraits as often as possible, and all of the guests dance-fighting over rights to stand in front of the well-placed giant dancefloor fan, which undoubtedly averted a string of heatstroke-related injuries.

I cannot explain how happy I am to show off these beautiful people doing crazy things like getting married, so I'll stop here and let the photos do the talking!
